Bulldogs Dominate on the Road

The Kearney Bulldogs took their Friday night show on the road. Destination: Reeds Spring, Missouri – just minutes from Branson. The spotlight gleamed on the Bulldogs in a much-needed 40-14 victory that featured a dazzling 374 total yards of offense over the Reeds Spring Wolves.

Luke Noland opened the show with a 2-yard touchdown run at the 4:31 mark in the first quarter. Quarterback Ian Acosta rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns as Kearney dominated the first half with a commanding 26-0 lead.

Carson Frakes and Zach Grace each scored on second-quarter, Ian Acosta touchdown passes – Frakes with an 8-yard catch, and Grace on a 32-yard strike. 

Acosta broke loose again with a 32-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. A 5-yard touchdown pass put Reeds Spring on the board with 1:04 left in the quarter. The Bulldogs held a comfortable 26-point lead at the end of the third quarter, 33-7.

A 14-yard, mid-fourth-quarter pass from Acosta to Frakes, and the Braxton Breedlove extra point kick, all but closed the curtain at 40-7. Reeds Spring scored on a 3-yard touchdown pass with 2:40 to go in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the Bulldogs. Final score: Kearney 40, Reeds Spring 14.

Kearney’s defense held Reeds Spring to 36 passing yards and 151 rushing yards. They forced 2 fumbles and a John Timchak pass interception.

The Bulldogs (3-4) set the stage for a home game with Grandview (3-4) next Friday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m.
