Kearney Woman Arrested for Allegedly Shooting Fiancé
/KCUR is reporting that a Kearney woman is in Clay County Jail on a $250,000 bond after being accused of shooting her fiancé. Brittney Foresee, 29, was formally charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action on Nov. 6.
According to the Kearney Police Department probable cause statement, a neighbor could hear Foresee screaming, “I’m going to kill you” around 1 a.m. on Oct. 29. The neighbor told police she said it again, sobbing, then heard a loud noise.
A recording of Foresee’s 911 call says she took a gun off her fiancé and then pulled the trigger. She called because she didn’t want him to die. Her fiancé was taken to Liberty Hospital with a hollow-point bullet in his rib cage area. In his interview with police, he said he thought his .40 caliber Smith & Wesson was hidden and that the couple hadn’t been fighting. The victim said Foresee had been acting unstable and believed she was taking her prescription of Xanax.
Police also interviewed a friend of Foresee, who says Foresee called her while police were at her home. She allegedly said to the friend, “The police are here. It’s the worst thing ever. It’s the worst thing yet. I shot him.” The friend also told police Foresee had been acting unstable recently.
Another friend allegedly told police she witnessed Foresee point a gun at her fiancé two days prior to the shooting, saying he was lucky the friend was there, and then emptied the bullets from the gun.
Foresee has entered a not guilty plea. A bond reduction hearing is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 13.
