The Clay County Election Board is expecting a very high turnout in this election. Voters should be prepared to wait in line, but also remember lines will appear much longer due to social distancing.

The Election Board will still accept absentee voting for those that qualify. The Board Office is open on Monday November 2, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm for absentee voters. The office offers curbside voting for those that have contracted COVID-19 or been who have been notified by the Clay County Health Department to quarantine. Curbside voting for those that have contracted COVID-19 or been notified to quarantine by the Health Department is at the Election Board Office in Liberty only.

On Tuesday, November 3, polls open at 6am and close at 7:00 pm. If voters are in line by 7:00, they will be allowed to vote. Voters must have been registered by October 7, 2020 in order to be eligible to vote in this election.

People will need identification to vote. Acceptable identification includes a voter registration card, Missouri driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, utility bill (must be in the name of the voter) or pay stub.

If a person does not show ID, they can vote a NO ID Provisional Ballot. Provisional ballots will be reviewed after the Election, and a bipartisan team will verify the voter’s registration and determine if that vote will count.

Missouri Election law prohibits wearing political apparel to the polls and advocating for a candidate or issue that is on the current ballot within 25 feet of the outer door of the polling site. Voters should leave political masks, t-shirts, hats buttons and other apparel at home. Election Judges will ask voters inside the polling place with such apparel on to remove it or cover it up. Missouri Election law also prohibits taking photos of ballots, your own ballot included.
