Will We See Major League Baseball in 2020?

Time is running out for fans to hear the crack of the bat and the words “play ball” - even in a shortened Major League Baseball season. Team owners have proposed a number of plans. All of which have been declined with only one counter offer from the Major League Baseball Players Association.

The most recent offer from the players is an 89 game season that would include 100% prorated salaries with an expanded playoff schedule. The MLB owners counter offered on Friday with a 72 game season and 80% prorated salaries.

The two sides are getting closer to getting a deal done according to MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, who says a 2020 season is 100% going to happen. The major disagreement has been the prorated percentage players will get from their normal salaries had there been a full season.

The players have been outspoken in declaring they want 100% prorated salaries with no pay cut, as owners have been indecisive about the amount they are willing to pay. While there is no agreement as of this writing, there are favorable indications MLB players and owners are getting closer to a shortened 2020 season.
