Kearney Graduate Ryan Hoffman Named Second Team Academic All-American
/William Jewell senior and Kearney Graduate Ryan Hoffman has been named Academic All-America Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Academic All-American program celebrates student-athletes who are among the best both athletically and academically across the country. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above and have reached sophomore in athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
Hoffman, who received his degree from William Jewell in biochemistry earlier this month, won the 2019 Great Lakes Valley Conference decathlon championship, the first multi-event champion for the Cardinals since 2012. He also took second place in the heptathlon at the indoor championships in 2020 and was a USTFCCCA All-Region selection last season. Most recently he was named Academic All-GLVC, is the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honoree for the second straight year and the recipient of the 2020 R.E. Bowles Award.
Hoffman played on the Kearney football state championship team in 2015 and the boys track and field team which finished fourth in 2016.
