Homicide Investigation Underway at Local Price Chopper

Police from a number of law enforcement agencies responded to a report of shots fired just before 5:30 p.m. at the Price Chopper located on Ash Avenue, near Interstate 35 and Route 291.

When officers arrived at the location, they found a man shot to death inside a vehicle.  He was reported to be the only person in the vehicle in the grocery store parking lot. The name of the victim has yet to be released pending the notification of relatives.

Witnesses said a suspect, identified only as a white male, left the scene in an unknown vehicle. Detectives are still investigating and speaking with other witnesses to determine what led up to the shooting.

This homicide marks the 79th homicide of 2020 in Kansas City, which is on track to have one of the deadliest years in the city’s history.
