Voter Registration Deadline is Wednesday for August Primary

The voter registration deadline for the August Clay County primary is just a few days away. The deadline to register to vote in the primary election is Wednesday, July 8th. The election is August 4th .

There are several locations around Clay County to register to vote including the Election board office at 100 W. Mississippi St., Liberty and Kearney City Hall, 100 E. Washington St. People wishing to register should call locations to verify hours of operation and restrictions relating to Covid-19 rules set by the Clay County Health Department.

Individuals voting in the Primary Election may select a party ballot of their choice at the polls or if voting by absentee/mail in ballot. Voters who do not wish to select a party ballot may request a ballot containing other issues, if their jurisdiction’s ballot contains issues.

Absentee ballot requests ONLY may be returned by fax or email as well as by mail, send the completed form by email to absentee@claycoelections.com or fax the completed form to 816-792-5334 or mail to: Clay County Election Board at 100 W. Mississippi St., Liberty, MO 64068. Requests for the August 4th Primary Election must be received by July 22nd.

Citizens are voting for candidates to serve in several offices at the state level this primary including Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Senator and Representatives. At the county level voters will be voting for candidates to move on to the General Election in these offices: Eastern Commissioner, Western Commissioner, Sheriff, Assessor, Treasurer, Public Administrator and Central Committee Member.

There is one Constitutional Amendment on the August 4th ballot and that issue is to adopt Medicaid Expansion.
