Kearney Chamber of Commerce Elects New Board Members
/The body of the Kearney Chamber of Commerce unanimously voted in three new board members at its monthly luncheon meeting on August 5th.
Each June, the nominating committee recommends candidates to serve on the Chamber’s Board of Directors to replace outgoing board members. With the outbreak of COVID-19 this year, the board decided to postpone elections until the body of the Chamber could meet in person.
Outgoing board members this year are Shawn Barber of Stables, Bree Switzer of Shelter Insurance and Sheri Gillespie of Shelter Insurance. The nominating committee nominated Adam Mustoe of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Jewelee Cox of The Tobacco Barn Farm and Heather Billings of 9Round Fitness. All three candidates were accepted unanimously.
“The nominating committee worked very hard to find the right people for the open seats,” said Executive Director Stacie Bratcher. “We really dug down and looked through a number of criteria for the purposeful intent to create a strong, diverse board.”
Jennifer Grossl was also recognized for her two years of service as Board President. “I’m driven by seeing what others have achieved, and I’m happy to see what the Chamber has accomplished over the last two years,” stated Grossl. “I am honored that the Chamber Board trusted me to lead the organization through a time of change. I take pride in seeing others succeed, and I am very pleased to see the progress the Chamber has made.”
The Chamber of Commerce luncheons are held on the first Wednesday of every month. For more information about Chamber functions or membership, call 816-628-4229 or visit their website.
