Bulldog Weekly Sports Recap

The Bulldogs keep winning in softball, golf, soccer, swimming, and cross country. Here’s our Bulldog weekly sports recap this week:

Softball

The Varsity softball team travelled to Excelsior Springs on Tuesday to take on the Marshall Owls in their first round of district play. The bats were alive for the Bulldogs and they won the game in 5 innings with a score of 10-0. Sela Lowrance was on the mound for the Bulldogs and she only gave up 3 hits. Defense was solid behind Sela and did not allow a single error. Kailey Rose went 3 for 3 on the night. She had a single, a double, and a triple. Macy Morrow went 2 for 4, Mackenzie Herndon went 1 for 3, Elysia Hand went 1 for 2, and Elise Arellano went 1 for 3.

Girls Golf

The Kearney Girls Golf team traveled to Eagle's Landing Golf Course Tuesday to take part in the Class 3 District 4 Golf Tournament. Tee times were delayed until noon and the weather was cool and rainy for the first half of the round.  In the end, the girls placed 3rd with a team score of 404 just behind Pembroke Hill (381) and Platte County (386). The following golfers qualified for the State Tournament to be held next Monday and Tuesday at Meadowlake Acres Golf Course in New Bloomfield, MO:

Senior Kenzi Kutch (92) - 6th place and All District

Senior Jessica Riley (96) - 10th place and All District

Sophomore Jojo Kutch (106) - 15th place

Boys Soccer

The Bulldogs took on Raytown South Tuesday night at home and came away with two wins. The JV won 3-1, with goals from Nick Turley, Ashton Holloway, and Aiden Pasieniuk. The varsity won 2-1, to move to 7-7, and 4-2 in the conference. Goals for the Varsity Bulldogs came from Angelo Donze and Cory Kreiling.

Boys Swimming

The Boys Swim Team traveled to Blue Springs South to compete in the BlueMO Invitational. This meet came at the end of the team's hardest week of training for the season, but the boys still swam strong, finishing 7th out of 13 teams with a score of 196.5. 

Individual Highlights:  

Scott Doll finished 3rd in the 200 IM. Scott also finished 5th in the 100 butterfly. 

Ridge McBride finished 8th in the 200 IM. Ridge also finished in 6th place in the 500 freestyle. 

Adam Hoffman tied for 3rd in the 50 freestyle. Adam also finished in 6th place in the 100 freestyle.

Lane Austin finished 12th in the 50 freestyle. Lane also finished 9th in the 100 backstroke. 

Peter Moore finished 11th in the 100 freestyle. Peter also finished 7th in the 100 backstroke.

The 200 freestyle relay, consisting of Scott Doll, Lane Austin, Ridge McBride, and Adam Hoffman finished 3rd.

Cross Country

The Cross Country team hosted 33 teams at a home meet Saturday, Oct. 9. The girls placed 2nd and the boys placed 4th. Varsity medalists were:  3rd place: Alex Kinstler, 8th place: Abby Elam, 11th place: Heidi Adams, 21st place: Kyler Chappell, 26th place: Liela Murphy, 27th place: Cody Adams, 31st place: Bella Donze, place: 32nd Olivia Brock, 37th place: Gracie Bomar, 40th place: Abby Smith, 45th place: Elek Haney, 48th place: Jackson Elsea, 54th place: Shelby Singleton, 62nd place: Max Morehouse and 70th place: Rylee Johnson.
