Bulldog Weekly Sports Recap

Fall sports are winding down and Kearney High School athletes have been competing hard on their respective fields, courses, and pools. Here is a KPGZ Bulldog Sports recap:

Boys Swim

The Boys Swim Team traveled to Gladstone to compete against North Kansas City and St. Pius for Senior Night. The boys had a great night celebrating 7 seniors and finishing the meet placing 2nd with 494.5 points. 

Individual Highlights:  

- Our 200 Medley Relay placed 2nd overall. This relay consisted of Peter Moore, Scott Doll, Ridge McBride, and Adam Hoffman. 

- The 200 freestyle was packed full of great swims including Scott Doll who finished 1st, Ridge McBride who finished 2nd, Jake Zingerman who finished 6th, and Tanner Mayfield who finished 9th.

- Josh Snider finished 2nd in the 200 IM and Zach Pickle finished 6th.

- Adam Hoffman tied for 3rd in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.62

- The 100 freestyle was also a great event for the Bulldogs with Ridge McBride finishing 1st, Josh Snider finishing 4th, Braden Tonks finishing 5th, and Jake Zingerman finishing 8th. 

- The Bulldog 200 freestyle relay finished on top winning with a 1:33.15. This relay consisted of Scott Doll, Peter Moore, Ridge McBride, and Adam Hoffman. 

- Peter Moore placed 3rd in the 100 backstroke and Lane Austin finished 5th.

- Scott Doll also finished 1st in the 100 breaststroke. 

- The Bulldog 400 freestyle relay finished 1st. This relay consisted of Jake Zingerman, Oliver Sumpter, Parker Bartlett, and Lane Austin. 

This was the Bulldog's last tri meet before competing at Blue Conference Championships next week on Friday, October 29th and Saturday, October 30th. The boys are in their 6th year of being conference champions and they have their eyes set on a 7th.

 

Girls Golf

On Monday and Tuesday, Three Kearney girls golfers competed in the Class 3 State Golf Championship at Meadowlake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, Missouri. The tournament consisted of a field of the top 83 golfers in the state who qualified out of their respective district in Class 3. Here is how the ladies performed:

Senior Kenzi Kutch- two day total of 176 (92 on day 1; 84 on day 2): tied for 19th place (top 15 garner All State Honors)

Sophomore Jojo Kutch- two day total of 208 (115 on day 1; 93 on day 2): tied for 63rd place.  Jojo improved by 22 strokes from day 1 to day 2 and golfed her best round of the season on day 2!

Senior Jessica Riley- two day total of 212 (105 on day 1; 107 on day 2): 70th place.

JV Football

On Monday the JV football team took on Excelsior Springs. The team came out the gate fast causing a fumble on the opening kick-off and never looked back winning the game 50-0. The Bulldog's record is now 4-1 and they take on De Soto Kansas next Monday at De Soto.
