OSHA Suspends Mandatory Vaccination Mandate
/The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has suspended the enforcement of the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate after a U.S. appeals court struck down a challenge by the administration on November 12. OSHA was facing thousands of impending law suits if it went ahead with enforcement of the controversial mandate.
The appeals court stood by its November 12 decision to stop the enforcement of the mandate which would require businesses with over 100 people to force workers to be vaccinated or wear a mask and be tested weekly, or even lose their jobs. Over 80 million Americans working in the private sector risked losing their jobs if they declined to get the shot.
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans stated in an opinion that OSHA’s mandate is “staggeringly overbroad,” and ordered it to “take no steps to implement or enforce the Mandate until further court order.”
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson led a coalition of 10 states in challenging the vaccine mandate propagated by the Biden Administration’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on healthcare workers across the nation, becoming the first states to file a lawsuit challenging this mandate.
“Earlier this month, I led a coalition in filing suit to halt OSHA’s unlawful vaccine mandate, the first states to do so,” stated Schmitt. “Yesterday, OSHA announced that they would suspend enforcement of their illegal emergency temporary standard that mandates vaccines or testing on private employers. This is a huge victory for the people of Missouri and businesses across the country, and an important step to completely halting these vaccine mandates, but there is more work to be done. Our case has moved to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, and we’re optimistic that we will prevail in completely halting this vaccine mandate once and for all.”
Private employers, religious organizations, and other groups have also filed law suits against the Biden administration, for gross governmental overreach.
