Clay County Tax Revenue Updates
/On May 10, Clay County Treasurer Bob Nance released the most recent Clay County tax revenue updates.
According to Nance, sales tax revenue for May was $2.3 million which exceeded the prior year by $619,000. This was primarily due to 2020 being well below normal due to the pandemic. (May tax receipts represent monies collected in March, submitted to the state in April, and forwarded to the county in May. Last March was the beginning of the shut down during the pandemic).
Use tax revenue in May was $590,000 compared to $765,000 in 2020. It appears the decline was due to more in-store shopping (versus on-line) this year.
Year-to-date sales tax is $908,000 and use tax is $831,000 over the prior year.
Additionally law enforcement sales tax revenue was $153,000 and children services sales tax was $296,000 over the prior year.
