Track and Field Athletes Excel at State
/Kearney track and field athletes finished their season with outstanding results on Friday, May 28 at the Class 4 State Championship.
Both boys and girls teams made exemplary showings at the state meet in Jefferson City. The boys team took second place overall, and runners Kyler Chappell, Kyle Hofer, Joseph Marshall and Jake Gregory earned State Champion standing in the 4×400 meter relay. Several boys earned personal best results including Luke Noland who broke the school record in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.74.
The girls team also deserves high praise finishing in ninth place, and all seven athletes earned All-State recognitions. Jadyn Barnes, Liela Murphy, Shelby Singleton and Morgan Wood earned third place in the 4×400 meter relay.
