Body of Missing Swimmer in Smithville Lake Recovered

Recovery efforts resumed this morning at Smithville Lake as Missouri State Highway Patrol officers attempt to locate a swimmer that had not resurfaced.

The Troop A Water Patrol division officers are searching for a female who did not resurface after diving into the water at about 7pm on Sunday evening.

The vessel apparently struck an object under the water which caused an item in the boat to fall overboard. The female passenger dove into the water to find the item but did not resurface.

The incident occurred near Collins Bridge on the Crow’s Creek side of the lake.

The Body of the swimmer was recovered Monday afternoon shortly after 1:00pm. The victim has been identified as 30 year old Nicole Sell of Pleasant Valley.
