Republic Services Introduces Yard Waste Program

Republic Services is now offering Kearney residents weekly yard-waste pickup service. Any city household can participate in the program for $9.50 per month effective July 1, 2021.

Participants in the yard-waste program need to put refuse in bio-degradable paper bags. Plastic bags won’t be accepted. There is a 10-bag limit per week.

Yard waste can also be bundled in bunches up to 18” x 36”. The bundles should be double tied with twine or other material that is biodegradable. No wire-tied bundles will be accepted, and bundles should weigh less than 40 pounds each.

Yard waste will be picked up curbside by Compost Connection trucks on the same day as the residents’ trash and recycling bins.

Yard-Waste service runs from March 1 through December 31, and residents can sign up by calling 913-279-6033, or emailing customerkc@republicservices.com.
