MoDot Closes 92 Highway for Road Construction

MoDot has closed a section of Missouri 92 Highway to through traffic for road construction. The section of road work runs from the Nation Road roundabout to Plattsburg Road and is a 24/7 road closure.

Barricades were placed on the roadway early on Friday, July 30, to prepare for the work. MoDot spokesperson Markl Johnson anticipates the work to last a few months.

“This section of 92 Highway is scheduled to be closed from now until September 30,” said Johnson. “Workers will be widening the highway from 11 feet to 12 feet, replacing the box culverts and pipe culverts, grading the ditches, and resurfacing the entire highway.”

This is all part of a multi-phase road widening and safety improvement project.

MoDot suggests using I-35 to 291 Highway to A Highway as a detour, however motorists can also take a shorter detour around the project by going north on Nation Road to 162nd Street, and then turn south on Plattsburg Road and back to 92 Highway. Another option is to go south on Nation Road to 144th Street, and then turn north on Plattsburg Road and back to 92 Highway.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

MoDOT asks drivers to work with them by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones. Know before you go and check what work zones you might encounter at traveler.modot.org.
