Area Projects Included In MoDOT’s Five Year Plan

The Missouri Department of Transportation approved the 5-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Program last Thursday. Projects included in the plan are scheduled from now to June 30th, 2026.

The Improvement Program includes several major resurfacing projects in the Kansas City Region of the state. It covers highways and bridges, transit, aviation, rail, waterways, bicycle, pedestrian, and operations and maintenance projects.

Projects planned in the Kearney area include:

  • Replace the box culvert on 92 Highway, 0.1 mile west of Cordell Road between Excelsior Springs and Kearney in 2023

  • Pavement resurfacing, asphalt entrances and loop detector replacement from Nation Road to Route 33 in 2023

  • Add the I-35 interchange south of Rte. 92 at 19th Street in Kearney. $3,218,302 in Cost Share funds

Over the last 10 years, MoDOT has delivered 4,405 projects worth $12.1 billion. These projects were completed 7.1 percent under budget and 94 percent on time.
