Lady Bulldogs Win Two in a Row

Kearney Girls’ basketball team put decisive back-to-back wins together against conference foes this week – On Thursday, a 46-17 win over Winnetonka and Friday, a big 47-22 victory over Grandview.

Freshman guard, Ryleigh Van Emmerik scored 17 points against the Grandview Bulldogs, leading the overall team scoring. Junior guard, Jadyn Barnes had 13 and freshman forward, Jocelyn Lincoln scored 6.

Grandview’s leading point scorer, senior guard Cierra Smith, left the game early with an injury after putting up 5 points in the first quarter. Smith is averaging 24 points per game.

Kearney’s defense turned up the pressure after taking a 13-12 first-period lead, allowing only 10 more Grandview points before the final buzzer. A’myah Bankston, Grandview’s second leading scorer was held to 5 points on the evening.

The Kearney girls are 4-1 in conference and 5-9 overall.
