It’s Three in a Row for the Bulldogs

The Kearney Bulldog girls three-peat last night with a 33-18 conference win over Raytown South in the Kearney Field House.

Head Coach Troy Resler talked about the significance of this win before tip-off. “Raytown south is 7-1 in conference. We are currently tied for first in the conference standings with one loss to Raytown South and Smithville. To keep up, we must win games like this.”

Freshman forward, Jocelyn Lincoln battles for a loose ball. Lincoln scored 9 points in the 33-18 victory.

“We have been preaching all year that our tough, non-conference schedule will pay dividends when we get into conference and district play,” Resler added. “Picking up 3 conference wins is big because our team sees that is the case – it’s not just coach-speak. They have been tested as much as any team they will face.”

The Bulldog freshmen have made their presence known in the last 3 games. Jocelyn Lincoln led the way against Raytown South, scoring 9 total points, while Ryleigh Van Emmerik scored 17 in the Bulldogs’ previous conference win over Grandview.

Senior guard, Macy Hughes and sophomore forward, Jojo Kutch both connected on 3-point shots. Overall, the Bulldogs were 2 of 11 on 3-point attempts.

On defense, Jojo Kutch and Jocelyn Lincoln had 8 and 9 rebounds respectively. Ryleigh Van Emmerik had 3 steals.

The Bulldogs are first in the Suburban Blue Conference at 5-1 and 6-9 overall. They’ll face Lone Jack in a non-district game on Tuesday, January 25 at the Kearney Field House at 5:00pm.
