Kearney Chamber to Host Hiring Event

The Kearney Chamber of Commerce is hosting its second annual Hiring Fair in March, and is actively looking for companies to participate.

The Hiring Fair is open to all employers in the area who have unfilled staff positions, or anticipate having open positions in the near future. The purpose of the event is to be an opportunity for businesses to actively interview and hire potential employees on the spot, as well as for job seekers to learn about career opportunities in the Kearney business community.

“The Chamber has watched local businesses cut operating hours and even close their doors in the last two years,” said Kearney Chamber Executive Director Stacie Bratcher. “One of our Pillars of Purpose is to coordinate training and networking opportunities that support businesses in their pursuit of excellence. A hiring event like this gives companies the chance to network and find qualified people to fill their vacant staff positions.”

The Chamber is working with the Kearney School District to make the 2022 Hiring Fair bigger and better than last year’s job fair. Stacy Holtzclaw, Career Readiness Coordinator for the school district is excited for the opportunity to help students get some interview experience and get their foot in the door of local employers.

“Partnering with the Chamber of Commerce on the Hiring Fair is win-win for everyone involved:  Kearney students, Kearney employers, and the Kearney community. I'm so glad that the school district can be a part of it,” said Holtzclaw.

The second annual Hiring Fair will be held at the Kearney High School on Wednesday, March 30, and it’s open to all area companies. Employers will get to meet exclusively with high school juniors and seniors from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. The event is open to the general public from 3 – 6 pm.

Registration for area businesses is $50 for Kearney Chamber members and $100 for non-members. Registration includes an interview space with table, chairs and bottled water. Private rooms will also be available for businesses who would like to conduct on-site interviews.

Job seekers of all levels are encouraged to attend and participate. This job fair is a great resource for students and adults to connect with employers who are actively seeking quality people looking for employment.
