Thompson Appointed County Prosecutor
/The Clay County Commission voted to appoint Zachary Thompson as County Prosecutor. Thompson takes the place of long-time Prosecutor Dan White. White was appointed Associate Circuit Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit on September 9 by Governor Parson.
Commissioners Jerry Nolte and Jon Carpenter approved the appointment of Thompson to County Prosecutor at the October 19 regular commission meeting. Thompson’s appointment becomes effective on Monday, October 24. Thompson will complete the unexpired term of County Prosecutor Dan White.
“We are humbled by the trust this Commission is placing in me, and the men and women of the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office for the work that we do for our community,” said Thompson. “We won’t let you down.”
Thompson automatically won the County Prosecutor election in August when no other candidate filed for the position this election cycle. He would have assumed the Prosecuting Attorney role on January 1, 2023. He has also served in the Prosecutor’s Office as an assistant county prosecuting attorney.
