Smithville Lake Motorcyclist has Died

The motorcyclist who sustained severe injuries as a result of a crash with a Chevorlet Cruze at the Smithville Lake Dam last week has died.

Clay County Public Relations Manager Sarah Boyd told KPGZ News that 34-year-old Donald J. Hundley of Kansas City, MO died on Thursday, September 29. Hundley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene on Litton Way near Missouri Highway DD, next to Smithville Lake at 7:40 pm on Sunday, September 25.

When the deputies arrived, they found a Chevrolet Cruze had collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Hundley was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Cruze was Jason Kissick, 49, of Smithville, and has been charged with second-degree assault in this crash. He remains in the Clay County Detention Center, and more charges are possible as investigation continues.
