Three-Year-Old Killed in Accident

A three-year-old girl was killed when a Ford F-150 pickup backed over her on Friday in Smithville.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Lacy James, 33, of Smithville was backing up in at 8 Jolisa Court and struck the toddler.

The child was transported to North Kansas City hospital where she was pronounced deceased. James was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated causing the death of another that was not a passenger and driving while suspended.

James was taken to Clay County Detention Center on a 12 hour hold, just after midnight on Saturday.
