Fatality Wreck Kills Teen

One teen is dead, and others are injured in a traffic crash on A Highway on Wednesday, December 14.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced that it is investigating the fatality crash that took the life of a teen driver last night. The crash occurred about 7:17 pm on A Highway near 112th Street.

The teen was the driver of a Chevy Impala that lost control and sideswiped a Ford F-150. The Impala then crashed into a Dodge Ram head-on.

The teenage boy, identified as 17-year-old Jacob Anthony Robert Craig of Holt, Mo., was pronounced dead at the scene. Two adults and two children in the Dodge Ram were transported to hospitals with moderate injuries. The driver of the F-150 was not injured. Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was initially notified of the crash by a call from a smart watch worn by one of the occupants of the Dodge Ram. It detected a crash and called 911. The Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate.
