Nicely Accepts Lawson Interim Superintendent Position
/On Wednesday, March 30, the Lawson School District Board of Education announced that they have selected Dr. Bill Nicely as their Interim Superintendent for the 2021-22 school year.
“As a school leader, I am very student focused. I believe strongly in providing the best possible learning environment where students receive both the education and support they need to thrive. In order to create that environment, it is important to have a high-quality teaching staff who are supported by both the district and the community. I am honored to step in and serve as interim superintendent at a time when there is a need for stability in the Lawson R-XIV School District. I have always had an awareness of and respect for this school district and look forward to serving in this capacity.”
Dr. Nicely began his teaching career at Louisburg High School in 1988 teaching biology, chemistry and physics. In 1997, he took a position in Sedalia as Assistant High School Principal at Smith-Cotton High. In 2009, he accepted the superintendent position at the Kearney School District, and remained there until he retired in 2020.
Dr. Nicely is stepping into finish the year for Mr. Roger Schmitz who has retired. The Lawson School Board is still working on making a determination to fill the superintendent vacancy for the 2022-23 school year.
