Bulldog Girls Overcome the Cardinals’ Defense

The Bulldog Girls Soccer team traveled to play the Raytown South Cardinals Tuesday night in a Varsity only match up. Despite a mounting list of injuries, the Bulldogs came out ahead 6-1.

The players continue to work through injuries, from wrists to toes, but Bulldogs continue to win.

Once again Kearney dominated the play, but had difficulty putting the ball into the net. Six minutes into the game, Senior Emma Weightman launched a corner kick in where Sophomore Mila Kane scored the first goal. Ten minutes later, on a break away from a speedy Raytown forward, and some confusion from the Kearney defenders, the Cardinals scored.

After multiple shot attempts, Senior Mia Adkins was able to slip one past the keeper, leading the team into halftime with a 2-1 score.

Junior Maddi Stevens hit her first goal 10 minutes into the second half. Then with 12:28 left, Junior Bella Donze added her name to the scoreboard, and Emma Weightman cracked a goal from the 30 yard line. With just under a minute left in the game, Maddi Stevens scored once again, ending the game 6-1.

The Bulldogs are 4-3 on the season and travel to Platte County on Tuesday, April 26, for a game at 6:30 pm against the Pirates.
