KSD Plans Back to School Resource Fair

Kearney School District social workers are already looking ahead to the 2022-23 school year and prepping for the annual Back to School Resource Fair. The school counselors and social workers always want to be sure all students have what they need on the very first day of school. Last year they were able to help 365 students be ready for school on the first day.

The Back to School Resource Fair provides school supplies, hygiene kits, gently used clothing, information about community resources and even underwear. Every year this is only possible because of the help of so many community partners. There are several ways the school district would like to invite your group to be part of the 2022 Back to School Resource Fair:

  • Share information about the Resource Fair. The district is glad to bring flyers to distribute or share a paragraph for use in a newsletter.

  • Hold a supply drive or make a donation to our project. Some groups have chosen to collect supplies all summer and others concentrate on a particular date or event. If you’d rather make a monetary donation, the district would be happy to do the shopping for you.

  • Ask people to save their gently used clothes and donate them to the Resource Fair when we begin collecting.

  • Help by volunteering. The district needs volunteers to organize and distribute the clothes we collect.

The Kearney School District is collecting new and gently used clothes and distributing them during the Back to School Resource Fair on August 11 and 12. They need clothes in all sizes—from youth small to adult XXL. They are especially looking for Bulldog gear. Clothes and shoes may be dropped off at Hawthorne Elementary August 8th - 10th between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
