Fireworks Celebration is a Blast at Jesse James Park

The Kearney Amphitheater’s biggest event of the season is this weekend. It features a concert, inflatables for kids, concessions and a dazzling fireworks display.

Tate has won Fox's X Factor and scored a Top 5 album

On Sunday, July 3, the City of Kearney celebrates Independence Day with a free concert and fireworks celebration.

This year’s entertainment is provided by X-Factor winner Tate Stevens.

Tate Stevens has captured America's hearts by doing the one thing he does best: being himself. With his powerful vocals, compelling life story and irresistible personality, Tate has won Fox's X Factor and scored a Top 5 album. He's also found success when his song "Holler If You're With Me," which debuted during a Pepsi commercial that aired during the Grammys, was chosen to be featured during the Southeastern Conference basketball tournament.

"Music drives me," he says. "It is really deep down in my soul. That is who I am, the music," he says. "I love performing for people because music makes people feel good. I love it when people say, ‘That song spoke to me.'"

There will be inflatable air toys for the children to play in from 5:30 to 8:30pm, and free cotton candy available at the playground and amphitheater. The concert starts at 7:30 pm, and the fireworks start at 9:30 pm.

Families are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs and blankets. Concessions will be available to purchase at the amphitheater pavilion. Kearney Parks and Recreation reminds families that personal Fireworks Displays are not allowed in the park, and no outside alcohol is permitted at this event.
