Law Enforcement Agencies Host MOCHIP Event

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Pleasant Valley Missouri Police Department to host a MOCHIP event on July 23, from 10 am to 2 pm, at 6800 Sobbie Rd., Pleasant Valley.

MOCHIP (Missouri Child Identification and Protection Program) is a comprehensive child identification program designed to give families a measure of protection against missing or abducted children. The program includes digital photographs, finger prints, dental impressions and more. All information is given to parents/guardians and is not stored.

The digital photographs, digital fingerprints and Child information and emergency contacts are given to the parent or guardian of the child on a mini‐CD computer disk. The information on the disk is compatible with the format required by the “AMBER ALERT” program.

The dental bite impression provides an impression of the biting surface of the child’s teeth, which like fingerprints, are unique to each individual. The dental impression collects enough saliva to provide a DNA sample and a source for a scent for trained canine search and recovery teams. Together, these five measures provide a powerful and effective recovery tool.

The event includes a SCHOOL SUPPLY GIVE-AWAY for the first 250 children who complete the process. It also will have displays of our equipment, a food truck, playground and yard games, raffles and more.
