Former Kearney Wrestling Coach Dies

Kearney’s former wrestling head coach Chad Hopkins died suddenly last Saturday, August 13. He was 44 years old.

The Kearney Wrestling team made an announcement on social media early on Tuesday saying, “Coach Hopkins was known for his passion, competitive nature and winning attitude. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends.”

Hopkins stepped down as the wrestling coach for the Bulldogs to spend time with his children in 2015.

He was part of the coaching staff that took Kearney to two state championships in 2012 and 2013.
