Plane Crash at Roosterville Airport

Clay County deputies responded to the Roosterville Airport to the report of a single-engine plane crash with injuries. The call came in at 10:47 Wednesday.

Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Manager Sarah Boyd told KPGZ News that after the plane took off, it crashed.

Investigators said the plane was practicing a “touch and go.”

“Two people were inside the single-engine plane. One appears to have serious injuries and one appears to have minor injuries. Initial indications are that the plane took off, but crashed very shortly after,” said Boyd.

The Kansas City Fire Department said it was challenging locating the plane because it crashed in a wooded area.

KCFD also addressed a fuel leak the crashed caused.

The crash investigation will be handled by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the FAA.
