Annual Lake Cleanup Day this Saturday

Volunteers are needed for the 33rd Annual Smithville Lake Cleanup Day is this Saturday, September 17, from 9:00 am to Noon. Participants should gather at the Sailboat Cove Shower house to receive supplies and directions.

Volunteers will be picking up litter that accumulated around the lake’s shoreline during the summer season. Participants should wear sturdy outdoor clothes and shoes. This is a great opportunity for individuals or groups who need volunteer hours. Scouts can receive a patch for volunteering.

Participants should pre-register so organizers will have enough supplies. The Clay County Parks Department will supply trash bags, gloves, snacks and water for volunteers.
