Deputies Honored for Acts of Heroism

On Tuesday, November 14, Sheriff Will Akin presented awards for heroism, compassion and investigation to several Sheriff’s Office members. The ceremony was conjunction with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy Graduation.

The ceremony took place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the auditorium of New Mark Middle School, 515 NE 108th St., Kansas City, Mo.

Deputies were honored for safely arresting an armed carjacking suspect, rescuing a woman held captive by her husband, saving the life of a suicidal man and more.

Several deputies were recognized for their work on an operation during the NFL Draft that led to the arrest and prosecution of four men seeking to have sex with children.
