Bulldogs Defeat Pirates in Overtime

The Kearney boys’ basketball team hosted the Platte County Pirates in a non-conference game on Friday, December 15. The match up was fast-paced and full of energy, but the Bulldogs moved ahead and won in overtime, 68-63.

Both teams played a very physical game, exchanging points with nearly every possession. The Bulldogs played through adversity as coached as Platte County was able to make some runs and executed their 3-point shots effectively.

Drew Wilson scored an impressive 27 points against Platte County

The Bulldogs’ defense was able to hold the Pirates’ Judah Vignery, who averages 28 points per game, to just 8 points on the night. Bulldog offense was fired up as well, keeping pace and never more than three possessions away from the Pirates.

Drew Wilson was Kearney’s scoring leader with an impressive 27 points on the night. Wilson was not only an effective point leader, but worked to secure rebounds and held the defense strong.

Cameron Webster, Davin Hanna, Aden Sallee and Harvey Sayon also contributed to the Bulldog win with 9 points each.
