Crash Near Kearney Kills One

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality crash that occurred in the overnight hours of February 2, near Kearney.

Deputies responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at 3:30 am Thursday, February 2, near N.E. 128th Street and Jesse James Farm Road. They located 44-year-old Eric B. Starr of Excelsior Springs, who had been ejected from a Ford F-150 truck. Starr was deceased upon deputies’ arrival.

Traffic Safety Unit investigators determined Starr was traveling at a high rate of speed just before his truck overturned multiple times. He was not wearing a seat belt. Investigation is still continuing.
