Deputies Rescue Man from Excavator

Deputies from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office rescued a man who was injured in a rollover accident involving a mini excavator on Friday, May 19.

Deputies used shovels, boards and even a jack to free the man when his leg was trapped in the accident.

The accident happened when the man and a woman were working using a mini excavator on the property at NE 172nd Street and Quinn Road, near Smithville Lake. The machine tipped over and trapped the man under the excavator.

The man had serious injuries to his leg, and the Smithville Area Fire Protection District transported him to an area hospital for treatment. The Sheriff’s Office posted bodycam video of the rescue on their Facebook page.
