Leighr Awarded Key to the City

Dr. David Leighr was awarded the Key to the City by Mayor Randy Pogue and the Kearney Board of Aldermen on Monday, June 5. He was recognized for his outstanding work and contributions to the City of Kearney.

Leighr moved to Kearney in 2000 after he graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia and became the owner and operator of Long Veterinary Clinic in 2004. He donates his time, expertise, and resources to the City of Kearney and the Kearney Police Department by taking care of the K-9 officers.

Long Veterinary Clinic also partners with the city to house animals in inclement weather and helps find animals a permanent home. They also provide expertise to the city about animal care and assisting and managing animal situations.

“This is a great honor for me,” stated Leighr. “I want to thank several people. God first, family second; I want to thank my co-workers, I want to thank my clients, I want to thank the community, because without that, none of this would be possible.”

Leighr was commended by Mayor Pogue and Board of Aldermen for his outstanding achievements and his commitment as an excellent city leader. He received a framed copy of the commendation and a Key to the City of Kearney.
