Fire District Employees Promoted

On Tuesday, July 18, the Kearney Fire & Rescue Protection District announced the promotion of several of its staff members.

Randy Jensen was promoted to Captain of C-Shift. Jensen has been with the fire district for over 25 years. He began as a volunteer in 1998 and was hired as a career Firefighter/EMT in August of 2000. Jensen completed his EMT training in 1998. He is a certified Fire Instructor and is completing his Fire Officer certification. He served as the Local 42 Executive Board representative from 2008-2018.

Bobby Higgins was promoted to Captain of A-Shift. Higgins has been with the district for over 16 years. He was hired as a career Firefighter/EMT in April of 2007. Higgins completed his EMT training in 2006. He is certified as a Driver/Operator, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer II & Live Fire Instructor. He has also completed The Fire Service Leadership Enhancement Program through the University of Missouri Fire & Rescue Training Institute. Higgins is also an American Heart Association Instructor and teaches public CPR courses.

Rod Barnhart was promoted to Captain of B-Shift. Barnhart has been with the district for over 25 years. He began as a part-time paramedic in 1998 and was hired as a career Firefighter/Paramedic in December of 2001. He completed his paramedic training in 1996. He is certified as Fire Instructor I & Fire Officer I. Barnhart is also an American Heart Association Instructor and teaches public CPR courses.

A pinning ceremony was held Monday evening prior to the Board of Directors monthly meeting. The candidates were pinned by their family and friends.
