Labor Day Races Take Place Monday

The Kearney Optimist Club kicks off September with their traditional Labor Day Races. The annual event has been a Kearney tradition for many years.

The 2023 Labor Day Races begin at 10 am on Monday, September 4. The event takes place in front of City Hall on Washington Street with foot races, foot races, gunny sack races, bikes, trikes, scooters and skates, egg toss and more.

New for the Optimist Club races this year, parents or guardians will need to register kids and sign a waiver. Registration for the races begins at 9:30 am.

Winners of each race will be given coins that can be used to purchase treats at the event, and it is free for kids and adults to participate.
