Hazardous Waste Collection in October

he City of Kearney will host a mobile Household Hazardous Waste collection site in October. The City invites residents to dispose of hazardous waste that shouldn’t be thrown away or recycled by regular means.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the City of Kearney will host a mobile Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection site at Mack Porter Park from 8 am until noon. 

The Regional HHW Collection Program provides members with convenient access to proper HHW disposal. Residents living in Kearney, unincorporated Clay County or any other participating community may participate in this event. Proof of residency is required. 

Residents can dispose of automotive products, antifreeze, batteries, CFL light bulbs, fertilizers, flammables, fuels, hazardous cleaners, hazardous liquids, household cleaners, lawn & garden products, paint, pesticides, photographic chemicals, pool chemicals, solvents, thinners and used oil at this event.

Not allowed are: electronics, explosives, yard waste, commercial waste, pressurized gas cylinders, controlled substances, tires and appliances.
