Bulldog Sports Recap
/The weather is turning cooler and the evenings are great for Bulldog sports. Here’s your KPGZ Bulldog sports recap:
Softball
On Tuesday, September 19, the varsity softball team travelled to Platte County to play the Pirates. The varsity game lasted 3 hours and totaled 11 innings. Unfortunately, the Pirates were able to string a few things together at the end and won the game 8-7.
Highlights:
Macy Morrow went 4-6
Bri Reynolds went 1-6
Brooke Paalhar went 2-6 with 2 RBIs
Morgan Pennington went 2-6 with 2 RBIs
Alyssa Quick went 2-5 with 2 RBIs and a home run
Kennedi Casey went 1-4
Ella Herndon went 1-5
Ryleigh Van Emmerik went 1-5 with 1 RBI
Alyssa Quick went 2 innings and struck out 3. Kate Landewee pitched the remainder of the game and had a great outing. She struck out 8 and did not allow an earned run.
On Monday, September 18, the varsity softball team played against the Truman Patriots at home. The Bulldogs had solid defense, great pitching, and swung the bats well. The Bulldogs won the game 6-2.

Sela Lowrance pitched all 7 innings and pitched a great game. She only allowed 7 hits and struck out 2.
Girls Golf
On Monday, September 18, the varsity girls golf team played in the Tom Stout Invitational at Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville. The Bulldogs finished 3rd place as a team. Freshman Jessi Kutch medaled finishing tied for 2nd place overall.

The JV girls golf team traveled to Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond for the Odessa Invite. The Bulldogs finished 6th place as a team.

Girls Tennis
The KHS Girls Tennis team closed out another incredibly busy week last week. On Tuesday, September 12, the Bulldogs hosted Platte County and ran into some tough competition. The Varsity ended the night 1-8 with Charleigh Elliott as the only win for the Bulldogs (8-1). The JV ended the night 0-9.
On Wednesday, September 13, the JV team traveled to Excelsior Springs to compete in their JV tournament. The Bulldogs took the courts with confidence and as a team brought home 2nd place.
Lydia Gaik(10) took third in A singles.
Emily McDowell(12) took third in B singles.
Lauren Karel(10) and Abby Wymore(12) took second in A doubles.
Audrie Milligan(11) and Neffie Rinck(11) took second in B doubles.
On Thursday, September 14, the Bulldogs hosted Winnetonka. The Bulldogs saw success on the courts. Varsity ended the evening 8-1 and JV ended 9-0.
Cross Country
In cross country action last weekend in Joplin, the boys finished 8th and the girls 15th. Two boys ran in the 17's for personal records. Bradly Barton finished 30th in 17:32 and Rylee Johnson finished 46th in 17:58.
Rounding out the rest of the team was: Isaac Smith 55th in 18:07, Max Morehouse 61st in 18:15, Jackson Elsea 82nd in 18:35, Carter Smith was 84th in 18:36, Cameron Daniel was 91st in 18:41. Most of the team ran personal best times. All seven boys spread was only 51 seconds.
The girls finished 13th at Southern Stampede meet. Heidi Adams finished 50th in 20:14. Olivia Brock was 69th in 20:32. Daisy Burnan was 90th in 20:54. Jordin Vaughn was 94th in 20:58. Alex Kinstler was 99th in 21:00. Liela Murphy was 117th in 21:23. Gracie Bomar was 178th in 22:22. Delaney Thurston was 218th in 23:23. Avery Morgan was 220th in 23:26.
The top five scoring girls had a spread of 56 seconds.
The JV team had four medalists: Josie Masters 7th, Seth Thomas 13th, Kelsey Pratt 15th and Alex Gustafson 25th.
