Bulldogs Dominate Eagles; Hanna Ties School Record

The Bulldog Boys Basketball team hosted the Ruskin Golden Eagles on Tuesday, January 30, and the game was like a rollercoaster ride for fans.

Davin Hanna scored and impressive 40 points and tied the school record of 11, 3-point shots in one game

The Bulldogs pulled out a 75-63 win over Ruskin in their first conference game of the season on Tuesday. It looked like it was going to be an easy victory for Kearney as they started the game, but the Golden Eagles came back in the middle of the game to challenge that notion.

The first quarter was all about Kearney toughness as the Bulldogs held a commanding 16-point lead, 27-11. Drew Wilson and Davin Hanna started the scoring early by earning 7 points before the Eagles were able put any points on the board. After the first bucket by the Eagles, the Bulldogs answered with 4, 3-point field goals.

The Bulldogs continued to ride high in the second quarter scoring 15 more points, but Ruskin began to pick up their game by scoring 17. The teams went into halftime, 42-28.

Ruskin came into the third quarter focused while Kearney struggled to find the basket. Ruskin went on a 10-0 run before Drew Wilson found the bottom of the basket. At the end of the quarter Ruskin went on a 7-0 run to and fans were nervous as Kearney only had a one possession lead, 49-47.

Kearney came back to the fourth quarter and dominated like they did in the first quarter. They ended the quarter scoring 26 points and won the game 75-63.

Davin Hanna was the leading scorer with an impressive 40 points on the night. He tied the school record of 11, 3-point shots made in one game. Drew Wilson also had a great night scoring 16 points. Manny Linthacum scored 7, Aden Sallee scored 6 and Harvy Sayon scored 5.
