Farmers Market Moves to Kearney Chamber

The Kearney Enrichment Council announced on Tuesday, February 27, that management of the Farmers’ Market will transfer over to the Kearney Chamber of Commerce and the Visit Kearney MO initiative this season.

According to the Enrichment Council, the decision to offer the management work to the Kearney Chamber was made after discussions about how to grow the farmers’ market.

“The Chamber of Commerce and Visit Kearney MO is dedicated to promoting our community's cultural and economic aspects,” stated a Farmers’ Market Facebook post. “By transitioning the market to them, we aim to elevate the Farmers’ Market's profile, attracting a broader audience, including tourists.”

The Kearney Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors also see a positive fit and the benefits to local vendors and businesses.

“When the Enrichment Council approached us with this opportunity, it made sense to take on the project. It fits within our pillars of purpose to support shopping local,” said Chamber Executive Director Stacie Bratcher. “We are committed to supporting our local businesses whether they are brick and mortar shops or local farmers and artisans. A farmers’ market is the embodiment of shopping local.”

The Enrichment Council is working closely with Chamber staff for a smooth transition before the market opens this season. Vendors will be contacted soon with market information. Sponsorship opportunities will be available as well this season.

For questions, vendors and participants can contact Stacie Bratcher at the Kearney Chamber of Commerce at Execdirector@kearneychamber.org.
