Clay County Sheriff’s investigators renewed an announcement about the need for information about the hit and run incident that killed John P. Scheidecker last July.

Investigators are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person who hit and killed Scheidecker in the area of NE 120th St. between Highway A and Fishing River Rd, south of Kearney.

In the early morning hours of July 30, 2023, investigators believe Scheidecker stopped his vehicle along the side of the road and got out when he was struck and killed by another driver.

The suspect vehicle did not stop. Investigators have pursued a variety of leads, but still need more information to identify a suspect.
