Lion’s Fishing Derby May 4

The Kearney Lions Club presents their 3rd Annual Kids Fishing Derby at Jesse James Park Lake. This year the Derby will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 10 am to 2 pm.

The derby is open to the first 65 registered youth, up to age 14, who live in the Kearney School District. Pre-registration ends on May 3 in order to participate. Click HERE to register online .

Kids must be accompanied by an adult and there are two age categories: 9 and under and 10 – 14. There will be three winners in each category: Largest Fish Caught, Smallest Fish Caught, and Most Fish Caught.

Participants may bring their own rod, reel, and tackle. Equipment will be available on the day of event for those who need it.

Free worms will be supplied and all fish must be caught on hook and line. This is a catch and release event, and adults not allowed to fish, but may help their child fish.
