Organizers of the Opal Wapoo Gravel Experience announced today that the event scheduled for August 29th, 2020, has been cancelled.

In a Facebook post, the organizers released the following statement:

The Opal Wapoo Gravel Experience is one of the most challenging gravel grinders in the country

The tide of 2020 has reached our gravelhood, and we regret to inform you that the 2020 Opal Wapoo Gravel Experience scheduled for August 29 has been cancelled. Given the uncertainty of 2020 and with safety being our main concern, we just do not see a path down which this year's race can happen and still offer you the atmosphere you have come to know over the past couple of years.

If you are a registered participant for 2020, please check your email for details and options.

Thanks for your support and understanding, and we hope to see you at the 2021 Opal Wapoo Gravel Grinder (race date is June 26, 2021). Stay tuned for information on a fun way to ride in our gravelhood, visit one of our sponsors and receive some Opal Wapoo swag this year.
