Kearney Schools Get Ready For Young Bulldogs

There’s no rest for the weary as the saying goes, and that’s certainly true at the Kearney School District. District staff and faculty have been working very hard to bring the 2019-2020 school year to a close under these unusual conditions. But they aren’t taking much of a break because Kindergarten Round Up and the Back To School Resource Fair is just around the corner to bring in the 2020-2021 school year.

The two-day event is set for August 12th and 13th

This two-day event is set for August 12th and 13th, and is designed to help families and students learn more about day-to-day kindergarten activities. On August 12th from 6-7pm is set aside for both families and students as parents attend a classroom meeting overview and new Bulldogs will meet their new teachers.

August 13th from 8:30-11:30am will be just for students, as parents will drop off their children, and the new Kindergarteners will spend time in their classroom experiencing daily school events.

Online enrollment will be available soon on the school district website .

Back To School Resource Fair

For those families who need help supplying students of any grade, the Kearney School District is having a Back To School Resource Fair. The school district has backpacks and supplies for students as well as community resource referrals and gently used clothing.

The resource fair is scheduled for August 6th and 7th at Hawthothrne Elementary School, 1815 S. Jefferson Street. The school district is asking for parents register for the fair on the school district website.

You can get involved with the resource fair as this year’s event will once again have a “clothes closet”. The clothes closet needs new and gently used clothes for kids in kindergarten through 12th grade. Supplies and clothing donations will be accepted at the District Office at 150 West State Route 92, Kearney, MO beginning July 5th. Donations will also be accepted at Hawthorne Elementary on August 3rd and 4th between 9am-3pm.

Monetary donations can also be made which will go directly to funding the Fair. Monetary donations can be made to Kearney R-1 School District and mailed or delivered to 150 West State Route 92, Kearney, MO 64060.

Inidviduals can volunteer for the resource fair as well as families or student groups. This is a great community service project for teams.

A list of requested supply donations and volunteer sign up can be done through the Back to School Resource Fair page.
