Missouri DHSS Launches eWIC Program in Clay County

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ WIC program is currently transitioning to an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) system called eWIC. This will allow WIC participants to more easily access food benefits at the grocery store.

The rollout of the eWIC system begins in Clay County on July 6th. Current WIC clients will receive their eWIC card and PIN (separately) in the mail. This PIN will be used until clients can physically return to the clinic for their next appointment and will then be able to select a new PIN.

The WIC Shopper app for your phone can assist in identifying WIC-approved food items at the grocery store. You can scan an item’s UPC Code to ensure that it is a WIC-approved item before checking out. It also features nutritional information, food preparation tips, and recipes to help WIC participants get the most out of the WIC program.

More information including eligibility details and how to download the app is available on the Clay County Public Health Center website.
