The Boys Varsity Basketball team traveled to Grandview to play their first conference game of the season on Tuesday. Grandview lead from the tip and held a 33-27 lead going into halftime. The Kearney Bulldogs refused to give up and battled back to take a 43-35 lead into the 4th quarter.

Grandview hit some big shots down the stretch and pressed the Bulldogs to turn the ball over a few times. Grandview switched the momentum and took the lead 47-44 with 2 minutes left in the game.

With 1 minute left in the contest, Brennan Watkins drained a 3 pointer from the field to tie the game 47-47. Grandview possessed the ball for the final minute of play until Braxton Breedlove stole the ball and was fouled in the process.

With 0.6 seconds left on the clock, Kearney delivered the ball to Watkins who sunk a 3 pointer to give the Bulldogs a 50-47 victory.

This was a big time win for the Bulldogs. It’s the first time Kearney has walked away with a victory at Grandview in over 10 years. The Bulldogs are now 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Bulldogs will be back in action tonight at Liberty North.
