Stuff the Bus at the Halloween Blast

Candy isn’t the only thing that will be given out at the Old Firehouse Community Center’s Halloween Blast on Friday. The Kearney Food Pantry would like participants to bring food donations to Stuff the Bus for needy families.

The Bus Barn has generously donated the use of a small bus to the Food Pantry so community members can load it up with kid-friendly food items. The food will be delivered to the pantries on school properties, or used in weekly food bags that go to pre-K through 5thgrade students.

The bus will be part of the Firehouse’s Halloween Blast and trunk-or-treat event that is taking place at Lions Park. The Blast is on Friday, October 29, from 4 – 6 pm.

The food pantry is specifically asking for the following donations: oatmeal, Pop Tarts, hot cocoa mix, Kool-Aid, muffin mixes, crunchy peanut butter, Vienna sausages, brownie mix, cookie mix, Ramen Noodles, macaroni and cheese cups, granola bars, crackers (cheese crackers, peanut butter crackers, Cheez-Its, etc.), snack sized cookie packs, Jell-O cups, pudding cups, fruit cups, and Fruit Snacks. Non-food items include: diapers and children’s sized toothbrushes.
